I know that I
will never see
a tree that can’t
inspire pottery
Each tree has
such majesty
barely knee-high
or forming canopies
A simple idea
making pots
look like trees
and to Robert Frost -
my apologies
For poems and pots
are indeed made
by fools like me -
together with such
amazing synergies
Same shapes,
elements, energy
forming everything
people, pots, trees
Vessels, branching forms
intertwining everywhere
Enliven and connect us
to true world wide webs
inside us and out there

I've worked and played with clay off and on for over 30 years. I vividly remember the first time I watched an art teacher in high school make a pot on the wheel. I was inspired - what a useful and beautiful thing to be able to do!

Functional beauty - pottery that looks, feels and performs in a pleasing way - is my ultimate aim. I’m very grateful to be able to make a variety of pottery from stoneware and earthenware clays in the studio next to my home in Waldo County, Maine.
